Smoke- Free Legazpi to launch RED CHILI AWARD

Legazpi City, June 9, 2011- The Smoke-Free Legazpi will be holding the first RED CHILI AWARD, a local version of the Red Orchid award the city government of Legazpi is being proud of.

City Mayor Geraldine Rosal commended the Smoke- free Legazpi composite team for a job well done.

Mayor Geraldine Rosal stressed that entirety of Legazpi Smoke-Free unit partner agency conveys their support for this year Smoke-Free advocacies and enforcement plans of the city government.

 Former City Mayor and now City Administrator Noel Rosal applauded the team for this year’s effort. He proposed to put visible signages specifically to every business establishment in Legazpi city.

 “By next year, we must proffer something new. We are on a different level, so we have to do better and come up with something unique, inspect all restaurants and make sure that they have signages”, Administrator added.

Dr. Alec Fulbert Gilego, City Health Office, presented the work plan this year, and the most anticipated project is the launching of the local version of DOH- Red Orchid Award the “Red Chili Award”, a barangay based award  wherein 74 barangays are encouraged to implement 100% Smoke- Free Barangay.

Moreover, the city is set to put up a Smoking cessation clinic early this month that will cater the apprehended smokers and smoking patients who will undergo treatment.

The smoke- Free Legazpi Team celebrated the award they received from the DOH- Red Orchid Award at the city Mayor’s office and was attended by the Smoke-Free Composite team helping in the implementation of the said ordinance. Bhevz/Jopay
